Child-friendly Courtrooms

Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas has introduced some useful tips and information for judicial consideration.
"Testifying in court is particularly stressful for children. Research has shown that the high level of stress and anxiety experienced by child witnesses can decrease children’s ability and willingness to provide complete and accurate evidence. The presence of certain factors in the courtroom can either exacerbate or ameliorate the emotional trauma of court involvement for child witnesses. "

New Child Abuse Prevention Campaign Provides Resources for Parents

A new campaign called Help for Parents, Hope for Kids has been launched by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). The movement is designed to target many of the stressors contributing to child abuse and neglect by encouraging parents to seek help. Through social media and advertisement, millions of people can relate to courageous stories of struggle and hardship that parents and children often face. With the $2,400,000 federal grant provided to raise awareness, the DFPS hopes to inspire parents all over the nation to visit www.helpandhope.org for helpful tips and resources.
